Lisa Carney, an Australian residing in the UK, now known across the globe for her Mamo Jo and Lisa Carney Design labels, has been designing jewellery for 15 years. Lisa’s jewellery reflected all the wondrous “magic of the ocean” and was recognised instinctively by those who discovered her artistry at her first market stall in Australia’s iconic Bondi Beach. Soon, surf stores were stocking her novel and unique surf jewellery under the name of Mamo Jo..(ancient name given to mermaids in the Caribbean).
On vacation in Biarritz France, Lisa was spotted wearing one of her designs by an executive of Quiksilver...and thereafter her Mamo Jo label was supplied to over 120 of their European stores.

When Lisa was asked to design jewellery to enhance and accentuate fashion label “pigs in Space” for Mercedes Australian Fashion week, the lisa carney design brand was born. The world was about to have a “fashion moment”. Shell accessories were no longer only for the surf set. The fashion press and the public couldn’t get enough of her mother of pearl, fishnet and ocean inspired sophisticated fashion pieces. Lisa worked with Jodhi Packer for her 'Tigerlilly' parade and made jewellery and shell bikini’s, followed by her own show at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week on a poolside runway at the Icebergs in Bondi. With her characteristic sense of fun, the show opened with an Ursula Andress's lookalike in a pair of high heeled flippers... Further career highlights have seen Lisa's designs used by stylists to dress Hollywood stars Kirstin Dunst and Nicole Kidman. Lisa was also commissioned by Warner Brothers to make jewellery for the "Scooby Doo" movie.
"Designing jewellery that reflects the beautiful forms and flows of nature has become my obsession."
