Having been born, and grown up in Long Island, New York Penel McCarthy now resides on Queensland’s beautiful Gold Coast, in Australia. Penel is renowned for her keen eye and great international sense of style, which has a tropical feel, but with a sophisticated New York twist.
Penel and her husband founded and developed the successful retail chain, The Perfume Connection into Australia’s premier perfume destination. After 16 years in retail and opening over 65 stores, Penel turned her talents to her underlying passion for jewellery, which began as a child and was developed during her global travels.
Penel's creativity is driven by her inspiration from nature's organic forms, balancing the precise with the irregular. She finds inspiration not only in her far away sojourns, but also in her daily life and the landscape that surrounds her. Her sophisticated sense of style takes shape in her collaborative works, and presents itself in the unique and captivating Carney McCarthy range.
